I’ve been working with SK students a lot more this year doing digital literacy as part of my prep delivery. I’ve been enjoying it but had to adapt to them not having 1:1 devices. When I posted the Google Slides Template – Crée ton extraterrestre activity on Twitter I had a few private messages asking if I’d mind sharing it so I decided to do a quick post about it to share widely for anyone interested.
Doing some digital literacy with SK-C @LL_TDSB students. They’re studying space so we created some funny-looking aliens using #googleslides. Lots of French vocab involved! I mashed up one of @ericcurts templates with one from @slidescarnival #llpstdsb #frimm #tdsb @LC4_TDSB pic.twitter.com/nFZQ9kcxWV

The class I was working with has been studying space so I thought it would be fun for them to create their own aliens using a Google Slides Template. The activity reinforced some French vocabulary around parts of the body and emotions. We spoke about the aliens on slides 1-10 before making our own and discussed parts of the face and the “mood” the aliens were in. I put it together using some parts of a previous activity by Eric Curts where students have to build a snowman and a template I found on Slides Carnival. I smashed both together to create this template. I’m a big fan of not recreating the wheel as we all are, especially right now where everything we do seems more complicated than ever! You will find the template for your use or modification below, click on the blue “Use template” button in the top right to make yourself a copy and edit as needed. It’s in French but can easily be updated to English because it isn’t very text-heavy.
When I revamped my website I created a section with other Google Slides templates that I’ve used or translated in the past. You can find those here.

Enjoy making your funny-looking aliens! Please share your creations with me on Twitter @MrsGeekChic if you try it, I’d love to see them.
